==Setting to factory timing== This guide will help you to adjust your idle speed and ignition timing to factory specifications. If you want to advance your timing, we recommend that you use PULP to reduce the risk of detonation occuring. Do not attempt this without a timing light, not all detonation is audible, and you could cause permanent damage to your motor. #Drive the vehicle until the engine is at operating temperature. #Connect the timing light (and tachometer, if used) to the battery and No. 1 spark plug wire per the manufacturer's instructions. #Ensure that the transmission is in Park or Neutral, and all lights/air-con are turned off. #Accelerate the engine two or three times to approximately 2,000 - 3,000 RPM without load. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute. #Check that the idles speed is below 1,000 RPM.If the idle speed is below 1,000 RPM, proceed to operation 9. '''If the idle speed is not below 1,000 RPM, proceed as follows.''' *Stop the engine and disconnect the wiring connector from the auxiliary air control valve (AAC). The AAC valve is part of the idle air adjusting unit (IAA unit) which is mounted on the plenum chamber. #Start the engine and adjust the idle speed adjusting screw until the engine is idling at 650 RPM. #Stop the engine and connect the wiring connector to the AAC valve. Return to operation 4. #Check ignition timing. The ignition timing should be 15 Β± 2 deg btdc. If necessary, loosen the distributor clamp bolt and rotate the distributor body until the ignition timing is correct at 15 Β± 2 deg btdc. #Tighten the distributor clamp bolt securely and return to operation 4. #Quickly accelerate the engine two or three times to approximately 2,000 - 3,000 RPM without load and check the idle speed. The idle speed should be 700 Β± 50 RPM. If the idle speed is correct the idle speed adjustment is completed. [[Image:Timing-IAA.jpg]] [[Image:Timing-marks.jpg]]
