=Distributor installation= I had to re-time my car as it was running fairly badly, really doughy coming off idle. So, by the looks it was adjusted fully advanced, yet rocking a pretty sweet -30deg retarded, so it was out a tooth. First step, set the car at TDC, as I haven't changed a belt or anything all I had to do was set the harmonic balancer to show TDC like so: Then, you need to remove the distributor cap and ensure that the rotor button is pointing at cylinder one like this: If the rotor button is 180 degrees out when you take the cap off, spin the harmonic balancer one more time, you have it on the exhaust stroke not the compression stroke. Loosen the bolt holding the distributor in, and pull the distributor out. With the distributor out, you need to set the little dimple to line up with the little notch: When you insert the distributor back into the engine, it will turn so that the notch lines up with the bigger line on the right-hand side. To ensure you have enough space to adjust the timing (and this was the hard bit for me to work out, took me forever to suss it) like this: You need to put the distributor into the head like shown in my picture, 5mm to the left of the casting mark: If done correctly, the car will start perfectly and idle fine, adjust it at your pleasure, I chose 15deg advanced. If you have managed to insert it as per my picture, you should have plenty of adjustment space either way. Contributors: E.k, SKY031, Naife, Gavin, Pablo Rodriguez, Session
