Rear Brake Pad Replacement
I hope you are sitting down, 'cause this will floor you. Ever spent 6 weeks trying to wind one piston in on a caliper? it shouldn't be this hard! surely! (It isn't!)
The origins of this trick is unknown, everyone who knows it has their own magical story of how it came about. I've known about it for 6 years, when two of my fellow OG South Australian members Naife & Charged (and I) perfected what is now an artform. I can do this in under 5 minutes.
Grab a Caliper! (you can leave it attached to the car, these are my spares...) https://i.imgur.com/oh0s97o.jpg
Pop the spring off without requiring optical surgery afterwards (safety first kids!) then remove the 13mm bolt and the handbrake arm. (and that seal too) https://i.imgur.com/NcST3yB.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XntQLSj.jpg
Using needle-nosed pliers, wind the rectangular part into the caliper in a clockwise motion. (Outside sources tell me that the other side of the car is anti-clockwise, so i guess choose the direction that it screws down into the caliper and roll with it.)
Please note, the caliper I used was seized to piss, i chucked that 13mm headed sucker back in and whacked it with a rattle gun. It un-seized the piston but locked the bastard on there and after i ruined a really old set of needle-nosed trying to undo it, I gave up.
For the remainder of this bollocks pretend its not there. https://i.imgur.com/DgpaJat.jpg (Remember, you wont see a bolt.)
Now, get a 19mm socket. (I found the 19mm had the same OD as the seal, thus wouldn't slip and slide about) get your G-clamp and place as shown in the following pic.. https://i.imgur.com/3lW5EWB.jpg
Now just wind the bastardo in like it literally ain't no thang. It's literally that easy. https://i.imgur.com/JCPlCBV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/66ZZeT4.jpg
Now if I've just saved you a tonne of time, feel free to donate to the forum eh? http://forum.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=136633.0
